The lead singer appeared to lose his mental footing for a second just then. He gazed nowhere exactly, thinking of what to say. Then, his neck craning towards the mic, his torso along with his guitar swaying and sweeping a large arc from the crowd to his drummer friend behind - including her somewhere midway - he said to the band members, "Wow..... Halloween is such an interesting night". And after a little pause, his tone taking a somber turn, "You spend all your life finding out who you are and come Halloween night .... you are part you and part ... well, some other you." He paused and before he could say more, the drummer said something mundane. He replied even more mundanely, being wittier than perhaps necessary, and soon they started their next song, his guitaring little more intense.
And all that thinking out loud for what ? She had just said, "I don't know what his name is, but it was great fun with this sexy guy on stage here with us for this song" to the guest performer with the scary mask, when he was leaving the stage post the previous song, Maybe she was flirting or maybe she was being nice, maybe he was jealous. Who knows. Maybe they were married or lovers or friends. In fleeting situations and encounters, you have few odd or even vibes to work with to figure out what makes people say what they say. The concert was great fun though and they too were smiling eye to eye, along with the music, soon enough I guess.
